The Overflow Artists Community at Bethel Church in Valparaiso is a newly formed, growing community of artists and creative people seeking to release the creativity of our God in heaven, here on earth. Creativity does not occur in a vacuum; artists thrive in a community where ideas and experiences are shared. Equipping Artists for Creative Ministry:

NEW Accelerated Drawing/Color Theory Classes for Spring 2010!

A very exciting opportunity for adults and youth ages 13 and up to complete the equivalent of the eight-week Drawing and Color Theory classes in 4 full Saturday classes! These classes go at a much slower, in depth pace than the intro workshops this past fall. Classes will meet one Saturday each month, Feb-May from 9:00am-4:00pm with a lunch break and a homework assignment in between classes.

 

Level 2: Color Theory $20 per class, plus supplies

Part 1: Saturday, April 24, 9:00am-4:00pm. Deadline for registration is April 18

Part 2: Saturday, May 15, 9:00am-4:00pm. Deadline for registration is May 9

This class builds upon the skills learned in the Drawing Classes. Students will be introduced to color theory and painting techniques using water media through a variety of color charts, exercises and finished projects. Students will learn the ways that colors work effectively together in a composition to create a center of interest, depth and mood as they apply these skills to their finished projects. Students should bring reference photos to use for the finished projects.

Students may choose to work in watercolors or acrylics and the following supplies are required for both color classes, Watercolor paints and brushes can be ordered through the instructor for approximately $25 if paid by April 11. Supplies for Level 2 Drawing: Color Theory:

Simply Simmons brushes : ½” & 1” Flat Wash, #3 round ($2.99@)

Winsor-Newton Cotman colors (a student grade tube watercolor): Alizarin Crimson Hue, Cadmium Red Deep Hue, Cadmium Yellow Hue, Lemon Yellow Hue, Cerulean Blue Hue, Ultramarine Blue

OR the above colors in acrylics.

 

In addition:

A large glass or white ceramic plate to use as a mixing palette

A kitchen sponge, a spray bottle for water and container for water.

Class size is limited to 15 students and payment must be received with registration by the dates listed below in order to reserve your space in the class.
